"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this," says the LORD Almighty, "and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."

-Malachi 3:10

People are amazing - Thanks!

During times of crisis or natural disasters, people drop everything to lend a hand, in whatever ways they are able. Sometimes, we offer the wrong kind of help.

Aid organizations prefer that we share more with victims of natural disaster, rather than items like toys or supplies. The infrastructure often gets overwhelmed with material gifts, and they can't handle it, whereas a financial gift will allow them to get what they need.

Charities also prefer if you don't specifically earmark your donation to the current disaster. Some charities still have funds locked up for disasters that happened years ago, because they are obligated to allocate the funds as they are directed.
Generosity is an important part of a complete financial plan. Putting the needs of others first has a greater effect on you than you would guess.

People who spend their vacation helping with victims of famine or natural disaster claim to come home more refreshed and ready to get back to regular life than those who spend their time off relaxing on the beach.

Giving to charity has a similar impact. Research shows that giving makes you feel good, releases dopamine into your system, reduces stress and reduces the effects of clinical depression.

These effects are lost if the giving is done out of coercion rather than free will. God loves a cheerful giver!
